Humberto Carrillo suffered a frightening moment on Raw during his match with Sheamus that led to the finish of the match being changed.
Carrillo was continuing his ongoing feud with WWE United States Champion Sheamus. After several weeks of being attacked by the Irishman, Carrillo finally got a one-on-one match. As the two men fought, Sheamus was left standing on the apron of the ring. Carrillo then attempted a sunset flip powerbomb onto the champion that sent Sheamus crashing to the floor.
Unfortunately for Humberto Carrillo he was caught under Sheamus and had a terrible landing where his opponent seemed to land hard on his knee. The referee came to check on Carrillo who had barely moved following the move and he called the match off, declaring Sheamus the winner.
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Carrillo is said to be doing ‘Ok’ following the match. No other word on his condition is available at this time. However, an injury at this point of the 25-year old’s career would be very unfortunate as Carrillo was taking part in his first match on Raw in over seven months.
Carrillo’s last match on Raw prior to his bout with Sheamus happened on the 5th of October 2020 edition of WWE’s flagship show. In that outing, Carrillo teamed with Dominik Mysterio but fell to defeat at the hands of Seth Rollins and Murphy.
Humberto Carrillo’s run-ins with Sheamus began when the US Champion issued an open challenge for anyone to face him in a title match. Carrillo answered the challenge but was brutally attacked before any match could take place.
With WrestleMania Backlash due to take place on May 16th, no WWE United States Championship match has yet been announced for that event.
