Hulk Hogan and Vince McMahon as co-owners of UFC?
Vince McMahon and Hulk Hogan have enjoyed an often times surreal relationship since they began working together in the early 1980s. The pair have broken up and gotten back together more times than a troubled couple in a soap opera, their conflicts ranging from the steroid trial, money, appearances, creative, and just about everything in between. The duo has even fought at WrestleMania.
This history means that the possibility of them going into business together seems almost mind-bending. The fact that the business in question was nearly purchasing UFC as the promotion looked to establish itself as the home of mixed martial arts seems even more left-field.
However, speaking on the This Past Weekend podcast, Hogan claimed that he actually regrets passing on the opportunity.
“There was an opportunity to buy it [UFC] a long time ago and Vince [McMahon] and I passed on it.
It was before the referees stopped things, and they were kicking people when they were on the ground, and it just was so violent when it was brought to us. That was a huge mistake..”
Does Vince McMahon Own UFC?
While Vince McMahon and Hulk Hogan might have passed on purchasing UFC, WWE, and the MMA promotion will be joined together very soon. Back in April, WWE announced it had reached a deal with Endeavor — UFC’s parent company — which will see it merge with UFC. The deal is said to be worth upwards of $21 billion.
Furthermore, it has since been revealed that Endeavor believed it was “critical” Vince McMahon stayed involved.
