WWE Evolution 2 is a few weeks away, but it already has its first match.
A couple of weeks ago, Jacy Jayne defeated Stephanie Vaquer to become the new NXT Women’s Champion. Following this, last week during the 3rd June episode of NXT, during Jayne’s championship celebration, fans witnessed the much-awaited debut of Mariah May/Blake Monroe.
Tonight, in the final hour of the 10th June episode of NXT, Jayne successfully defended her title against Lainey Reid. However, after the match, while Jayne celebrated, general manager Ava Raine appeared amongst the crowd and announced Jayne’s official second title defense. She confirmed that Jacy Jayne is now scheduled to defend her NXT Women’s Championship at Evolution 2 on 13th June, 2025 in a singles match.
Starting from next week, eight women shall compete in four singles matches to determine four winners, who will then compete in a fatal four-way match on the 24th June episode of NXT, to determine the number one contender for Jayne’s title at Evolution 2025.
As of this writing, the participants have not yet been finalized.
Mariah May, now known as Blake Monroe, is heavily favored to face Jayne at the PLE and has recently been confirmed to officially sign her NXT contract next week.
Jacy Jayne Recalls Mistaking New WWE Signing Mariah May For Tiffany Stratton
May’s debut last week seemingly confused Jacy Jayne, who mistook the former AEW Women’s Champion for Tiffany Stratton. Speaking Busted Open, Jacy Jayne recalled the hilarious situation.
“So at first, I thought it was Tiffany (Stratton). I was like, oh my God! Tiffany’s here. But, then I was like, okay. Well, she doesn’t have a title. Can’t be Tiffany. But I’m excited. I welcome anybody to our division. Let’s see if you can hang with our division and it’s just another shot for me to show everyone that I’m better.”
