Huge Update On WWE SmackDown’s Runtime Change

New WWE SmackDown Tag Team official

Major update has emerged about WWE SmackDown’s future.

Earlier this year, SmackDown’s runtime was extended by an additional hour, turning into a three-hour show from its long-running format of two hours. While a two-hour Raw show was exceptionally well-received by the fans, a similar statement cannot be given for the blue brand following its runtime change.

Earlier this month, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that the three-hour format of the show may soon be shortened. While there have been no confirmations, Meltzer claimed that 6th June 2025 was the rumored transition date.

However, recently, while all these rumors continued, WrestleVotes Radio reported that the Friday-night show is set to continue its three-hour format for the “foreseeable future”.

“According to sources, the plans for SmackDown show length on USA Network changed back in January. WWE and USA agreed that the May 30 show would be the final three-hour presentation, with the show reverting back to two hours on the June 6 edition.

We are told the show will remain three hours for the foreseeable future, as USA Network was steadfast on keeping it that length. Sources say USA has been happy overall with the performance of the show, numbers-wise, with the extra third hour.”

The upcoming 30th May episode of SmackDown is set to host two more Money in the Bank qualifying matches for both the men’s and women’s ladder matches.

WWE Referee Apologizes Following Recent Botch

A few weeks ago, on 16th May, fans witnessed a triple-threat match amongst Solo Sikoa, Rey Fenix, and Jimmy Uso, with veteran referee Charles Robinson officiating the match.

Midway through the match, Rey Fenix had Solo Sikoa rolled up, but instead of counting the pin, Robinson looked on, puzzled. Following the botch, Charles Robinson issued an apology on Instagram.

Sorry,…out of position and missed the count on @wwe #smackdown. We all mess up and learn from our mistakes.”
