Stone Cold Steve Austin might not be done with in-ring action.
Over two decades ago, in 2003, Steve Austin wrestled his final match against The Rock at WrestleMania 19 in a losing cause. Since then, the Texas Rattlesnake has been absent from full-time in-ring action, although he has sporadically appeared in WWE over the last few years.
Austin’s last televised appearance was at WrestleMania 41 when he appeared after three years and infamously crashed his ATV into the ringside barricade. Before this, The Texas Rattlesnake wrestled his first match in 19 years at WrestleMania 38 against Kevin Owens.
While expected to be done with in-ring action, a latest update has emerged on the 60-year-old’s wrestling future. Fightful Select recently noted that during the WrestleMania weekend, Austin had teased about not being done with pro wrestling. According to another Fightful source, Stone Cold hinted at the possibility of one more match.
Although there has been no update about Austin’s last match, multiple people who met him during WrestleMania weekend claimed that the Hall of Famer was open to the idea, under the right circumstances. He was also inducted into this year’s HOF under the Immortal Moment category along with Bret Hart.
Fightful also reported that since the WrestleMania weekend, multiple talents had approached the management for an opportunity to face Austin in his last match, and CM Punk was one of the heavily discussed names.
We at ITR Wrestling shall provide more updates on this story as we learn more.
CM Punk Once Teased A Match Against Stone Cold Steve Austin
That would be up to Steven. It’s not up to me. I think he had a pretty good return — came back, main event-ed WrestleMania. At this point, his six shooters might be buried in the Nevada desert. But, if he wants to dig ‘em up — I’m your Huckleberry. It should’ve happened ten-plus years ago, but if he wants to Go To Sleep, he can call me.”
