Huge Update On Mercedes Mone WWE Talks

Mercedes Mone

A new report has provided an update on talks between Mercedes Mone and WWE.

Mone walked out of WWE back in May 2022, with creative disagreements over the Women’s Tag Team Championship said to have played a major role in both her and her tag partner Trinity’s departures.

Since then, the star has gone on to make a name for herself in Japanese promotions, performing in both Stardom and New Japan Pro Wrestling where she is a former IWGP Women’s Champion. However, an ankle injury in May cut her run short and her contract with NJPW has since lapsed.

Recently, Mercedes Mone has been dropping teases of a WWE return on social media, most recently using Instagram Stories to post pictures of herself in front of posters of stars such as Triple H.

Despite the hints, Fightful Select has reported that talks between Mone and WWE have fallen apart. While negotiations for a return did take place, they are said to no longer be active. Fightful noted that the dialogue was friendly, but ultimately WWE decided to walk away.

The report also claimed WWE expects Mone to appear elsewhere “imminently,” although where this will be is unknown. There are multiple major events taking place in the next few weeks, including AEW Worlds End, NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18, and TNA Hard To Kill.

Mercedes Mone’s Asking Price May Have Played A Role In WWE Ending Talks

While no reason has been given for WWE’s decision to walk away from talks with Mone, it has previously been reported that she has asked for more money than that paid to Charlotte Flair after she signed a new deal.

That amount is said to already make Flair one of the highest-paid female stars in company history, so Mone was unlikely to be offered a similar contract.
