Is Malakai Black going to continue with AEW?
Speculations continue as rumors pile on about Malakai Black’s return to WWE. Black jumped ships from WWE to AEW in 2021, after being released by his former promotion following an extremely successful NXT and main roster run. He made his debut by going after Cody Rhodes and soon formed the House of Black faction with Buddy Matthews, Brody King, and Julia Hart.
Amid ongoing rumors about his unsatisfactory run at Tony Khan’s promotion for the past few months, Black could be on the horizon of making his way back to WWE. According to a recent PWInsider report, it is speculated that Black will depart the company and enter free agency around February or March. Though still technically under contract, he is said to be done with any future appearances.
Recently, as the speculations continued, several fans online noticed the former Trios Champion’s page was removed from the AEW’s roster page. This could be a sign that the House of Black leader could be done with the promotion.
Effectively written off after Will Ospreay’s promo earlier this year, The House of Black has now rebranded themselves as ‘The Hounds Of Hell’.
Update: As per a recent report by PWInsider, it was noted that Black’s contract expired yesterday on February 9, meaning he is officially a free agent now.
Julia Hart Addresses Malakai Black’s Contract Situation
Earlier this year, in an interview with Denise Salcedo, the former TBS Champion and House of Black member Julia Hart opened up on the concerns regarding Malakai Black’s contract situation. Denying any knowledge, she said:
“He has been such a great rock for me and I appreciate everything he’s ever done with me. The rumors aren’t confirmed or anything, so I don’t know what exactly is going on. Anything could be happening. We don’t know. So, it’s just a matter of fact whatever happens, happens, and I’m happy for him no matter what happens, and I think House of Black will be okay.”
