Huge Update On AEW Status Of Thunder Rosa

Thunder Rosa with AEW Women's World Championship

Following reports that Thunder Rosa had asked to leave AEW, a new report has attempted to clear up the situation.

On the August 24th edition of AEW Dynamite Thunder Rosa announced that she would be unable to defend her AEW Women’s Championship at All Out against Toni Storm.

The star revealed that she was struggling with an injury that was going to keep her out for an extended period. As a result, a Fatal-Four-Way Match was held at All Out and Toni Storm defeated Britt Baker, Hikaru Shida and Jamie Hayter to become Interim AEW Women’s World Champion.

Following Rosa’s announcement, the rumour mill went into overdrive with some suggesting she had been suspended, although this was quickly disproven. However, there were reports that the star has heat with both Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter, and it was also claimed that she had a history of “berating” extras.

Following the initial burst of speculation, the situation on Rosa went quiet until September 7th when it was reported that she had asked to leave AEW. However, further reports has disproven these claims. Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez have noted that the initial reports were false.

Thunder Rosa has held the AEW Women’s Championship since the St Patrick’s Day Slam edition of Dynamite where she defeated Britt Baker in a Cage Match. To date she has made six successful defences of her title, the most recent coming at Battle of the Belts III where she overcame Jamie Hayter.
