Huge Update On Clash At The Castle Main Event

WWE Clash at the Castle

A new report has given an update on the expected main event for the upcoming Clash At The Castle event.

On September 3rd WWE will hold their biggest event in the United Kingdom since SummerSlam three decades ago.

On that occasion, fans packed out Wembley Stadium to roar on the British Bulldog as he defeated Bret Hart in the main event. As a result, many fans are expecting that WWE will attempt to repeat the trick by having Drew McIntyre score a huge win on home-ish soil.

For months it has been reported that this means that McIntyre will be featuring in the main event, and could even win the World Championship, but who will he be facing?

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has reported that current plans will see McIntyre take on Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. Furthermore, this is why the pair are yet to meet at a Premium Live Event in 2022.

Meltzer adds that the show in Cardiff, Wales is “a lock” to sell more than 65,000 tickets which would make it the biggest legitimate crowd of the year. However, WWE like to “protect” WrestleMania so the crowd might not be announced as such.

On the July 29th episode of SmackDown, Drew McIntyre and Sheamus will meet in a Irish Doneybrook (no DQ, no count out) match. It has been announced that the winner will face will face the victor of the clash between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam.

The above report also appears to confirm that Reigns will defeat Lesnar at the summer spectacular.
