Huge Title Change At AEW Dynamite Road Rager

AEW Dynamite Road Rager

On a huge night for AEW at Road Rager, the company saw one of their most highly-prized championships change hands.

Following a thrilling Ladder Match, AEW now has new World Tag Team Champions. The match saw all four men come to grief on ladders and tables, with the end of the bout coming after a brutal demolition of Luchasaurus. With AEW’s resident dinosaur at the top of a ladder, touching the gold, he was sent crashing through four tables at ringside.

As predicted the match was chaotic from the very start, as the momentum swung back and forth. Matt Jackson sent Luchasaurus crashing through a table with an elbow drop, while Nick delivering a 450 splash to Jungle Boy. Although the reigning champions fought back, on the night it just wasn’t mean to be.

Despite Jungle Boy’s valiant efforts, it was the Young Bucks who captured the titles, to become AEW’s first-ever two-time World Tag Team Champions.

After the match after initially helping a stricken Jungle Boy to his feet, Christian Cage laid out his protégé, before delivering a con-chair-to to leave him broken in the ring as the show went off the air.

Jurassic Express has held the World Tag Team Titles for 162 day before being defeated by the now two-time champions the Young Bucks. Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus won the titles back in January after defeating the Lucha Brothers.

Over the next six months they successfully defended the titles on seven occasions.

The Ladder Match at Road Rager was originally scheduled to be a Three-Way match featuring the Hardys, but following Jeff’s recent arrest, they were removed from all advertising regarding the match.

On June 14th it was confirmed by AEW that Jeff Hardy would be suspended without pay, and offered help and support and he begins treatment for substance abuse issues.
