AEW’s latest move indicates a huge tag team is arriving at the promotion.
All Elite Wrestling currently has one of the most stacked tag team rosters in the business, and is always scouting to add to its already impressive roster. As per a report, another impressive young tag team will arrive soon at the Tony Khan-led promotion.
AEW Files Trademark, Indicates Arrival Of A Popular Tag Team
As per WrestlingNews.com, the Jacksonville-based promotion filed a trademark for ‘The Swirl.’ This relates to the popular tag team of Blake Christian and Lee Johnson.
This filing was made after the duo’s match at Ring Of Honor’s Death Before Dishonor, where they had been appearing regularly as a team, although there was no official name for them. In a backstage segment, after their match at the event, where they beat The Kingdom (Matt Taven and Mike Bennett), the duo repeatedly referred to themselves as The Swirl.
Elsewhere in the promo, they put the whole ROH tag team roster on notice. Both Christian and Johnson have made regular appearances as singles wrestlers in AEW as well, and are considered rising prospects by industry experts thanks to their impressive performances, especially Christian, who is known for his work in GCW.
The filing with the United States Patent and Trademark Office covers the use of the name for the following:
Conducting entertainment exhibitions in the nature of professional wrestling exhibits and performances by professional wrestlers, namely, performances by a tag team of wrestlers during professional wrestling events; Entertainment services in the nature of live professional wrestling performances.“
While currently there is no filing for any merchandise, given their rise through the ranks, fans can expect that to happen somewhere in the near future. The arrival of this team injects new life into an already talented roster across AEW and ROH.
