NXT General Manager William Regal has announced a huge Fatal-4-Way Match for the NXT Championship on September 14th.
The NXT Championship is currently vacant after Samoa Joe relinquished the title due to injury on September 12th. Posting on Twitter, Joe revealed that he had been advised to step away from the ring by WWE’s medical staff. Due to being out for an unknown length of time, Joe said he decided to vacate the championship.
At time of writing there has been no news on the nature of the injury suffered by the first-ever three-time NXT Champion.
With the brand now without a champion, General Manager William Regal has acted quickly to resolve the situation. In a short video, Regal revealed that the match between Pete Dunne, Kyle O’Reilly, Tommaso Ciampa and LA Knight will now determine a new NXT Champion.
“By now you may have heard the unfortunate news that Samoa Joe has had to relinquish his NXT Championship due to injury. That leaves us without an NXT Champion. But not for long, because tomorrow night on the relaunch of NXT 2.0, the Fatal-4-Way Match between Pete Dunne, Kyle O’Reilly, LA Knight and Tommaso Ciampa will now be a Fatal-4-Way Match to determine the new NXT Champion.”
Originally the match was created to name a new number one contender for Samoa Joe’s crown.
