Unsurprisingly, WWE is looking to go all out with the first episode of Raw on Netflix and have a massive match in mind to close out the show.
January 6th will officially mark a new era for the Monday Night Show as Raw will be available to stream on the platform in just about every market around the world. With John Cena, Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns all confirmed for the show and many more legends expected to be making appearances, the first Raw of 2025 is very likely to be the most newsworthy show of the year when all is said and done.
Along with appearances from some of the biggest stars of the past and present, big matches will also take place to hit the ground running on as part of the Netflix era. According to a new report, the main event will be one fans have been waiting a long time for.
Following on from Dr. Chris Featherstone previously reporting that CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins is planned for the January 6th show, Dave Meltzer has corroborated the report in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter while adding that it will be the main event of the show:
Chris Featherstone reported Punk vs. Rollins as the main event for the 1/6 Raw show on Netflix. Those in WWE have confirmed that is the current planned main event.
If this match does take place, it will be Punk’s first match on Raw since January 2014. The match in question saw Punk defeat Billy Gunn.
Another Big Match Planned For WWE Raw On Netflix Debut
With just a couple of weeks to go until the big day, behind-the-scenes preparations are continuing to make sure that the all-important show is as newsworthy as possible. In another rare instance, Roman Reigns is expected to be in action on the show.
In other news, a match previously set for WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event was scrapped.
