After months of waiting, Becky Lynch is confirmed for the SummerSlam PLE.
A few weeks ago, fans witnessed Becky Lynch defeat Lyra Valkyria to crown herself the new Women’s Intercontinental Champion. However, after multiple recent unsuccessful attempts to gain back her title, former champion Valkyria has finally earned herself another shot at the gold.
Recently, at Evolution 2, Bayley faced off against Valkyria and Lynch in a triple-threat match for the gold. However, after the failed attempt on July 12th, Valkyria again clashed against Bayley on the July 14th episode, and successfully came out victorious.
Now, in almost three weeks, fans will again see Lyra Valkyria face Becky Lynch ahead of the August 2nd and 3rd edition of SummerSlam 2025, for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship.
Becky Lynch Discusses Early WrestleMania 41 Scrapped Return Plans
A couple of months ago, during an interview with Lauren Coates of Variety, Becky Lynch revealed how WWE had planned to bring her back before WrestleMania 41, which then had to be scrapped due to medical reasons.
“I took what I thought was going to be three months off during the summer, when my contract came up. I was like, ‘Okay, seems like a good time to take a little break, get some stuff done.’ Then other things came up – I was filming ‘Star Trek,’ and then ‘Happy Gilmore.’ There was talk [of a return] around Rumble time, but then at the last minute, I got a skin condition. The next big event was WrestleMania, so it seemed to make sense, especially if I could take Bayley out of the mix and ruin her dreams. It felt doubly brilliant.”
