The AEW Women’s World Championship will be on the line at this year’s highly anticipated Winter Is Coming episode of Dynamite, scheduled for Wednesday, December 11th.
Champion Mariah May is set to defend her title against Mina Shirakawa in what promises to be an intense showdown. The feud between May and Shirakawa escalated at AEW Full Gear, where tensions boiled over during a post-match celebration. May attempted to strike Shirakawa with a champagne bottle, only for Shirakawa to counter with a kick that shattered the bottle. The chaotic exchange ended with Shirakawa spearing May off the stage and through a table, setting the stage for their heated rivalry.
The animosity continued to build during the November 27th episode of Dynamite. May interrupted a sit-down interview between Shirakawa and Renee Paquette, delivering a vicious bottle shot to Shirakawa. Earlier in the segment, Shirakawa admitted she was prepared for an attack, citing May’s betrayal of their former ally, Toni Storm. Storm has been absent from AEW programming since losing the Women’s Championship to May at All In this past August.
