The current WWE Universal Champion didn’t win one award this year following a monumental return and subsequent run as Tribal Chief and head of the table on the blue brand. The Big Dog, though, doesn’t seem to care, as he’s slammed the Slammys – calling them “participation awards” following his snub.
“When you’re are the highest paid/most decorated Superstar in the business. You don’t need participation awards.”

Reigns returned to WWE at SummerSlam after several months away from the company, delivering Spears to both then-WWE Universal Champion The Fiend and former Universal Champion Braun Strowman. Competing against both men in a Triple Threat Match at WWE Payback, Reigns would emerge victorious with the gold.
Ever since, The Tribal Chief has sat at the top of the table with Paul Heyman by his side, arguably being involved in some of the matches of the year and a potential rivalry of the year with cousin Jey Uso. At WWE TLC, Reigns would successfully defend his Universal Championship against Kevin Owens following a Survivor Series match where he became one of only two men to defeat WWE Champion Drew McIntyre in singles action this year – with the other being Randy Orton.
