How WWE Kept Brock Lesnar’s Return A Secret Backstage

Brock Lesnar returns at WWE SummerSlam

Behind-the-scenes details of Brock Lesnar’s return to WWE revealed.

The wrestling world was shocked as The Beast Incarnate made his return to the company after two years. The former Undisputed Champion was supposed to make a comeback at the 2024 Royal Rumble, which was cancelled due to him being alluded to in the ongoing Janel Grant lawsuit.

Given that he was on the promotion’s blacklist, getting him back and keeping it a secret was no easy task, and reports have emerged of the lengths the company went to ensure Lesnar’s return was a surprise.

Details Emerge Of How WWE Pulled Off Brock Lesnar’s Return

Given how fast information travels, Brock’s SummerSlam return was kept a secret from even the company writers. According to a report on Fightful Select Patreon, WWE flew The Beast Incarnate in secrecy, a fact that has also been corroborated by PWInsider.

The report states that the former Undisputed Champion was flown in from Minnesota to Teterboro on Saturday night via private jet and was kept hidden throughout the day.

According to sources backstage, the only indication that something was happening was when some staff made their way near the stage to set up for filming midway through the main event match, and when asked about what was happening, they received vague answers.

The multiple-time World Champion was reportedly brought to the backstage area at 9:15 PM ET, and then proceeded to make his shock return as scheduled.

The report also adds that there is strong suspicion within media professionals that Lesnar’s return is the reason why the WWE cancelled the post-show press conference, which a lot of media personnel were informed about only on Saturday.

As per the report, in the 48-year-old grappler’s case, there is currently no legal “clearing of wrongdoing.” However, he is not being prosecuted or being actively sued, which can be a probable reason for his return.

There is no official word on whether Lesnar’s return is permanent or just a one-off event, but he is currently scheduled for a storyline with John Cena, who reportedly has multiple appearances on SmackDown this month.

In related news, Triple H heavily implied that John Cena pushed for Brock Lesnar’s return to the WWE.
