Tony Khan recently overturned a 14-year-old ban on Beast Mortos.
Recently confirmed to be in a relationship with Mercedes Mone, Beast Mortos was present at Dynamite Grand Slam: Mexico and also competed in a ten-man tag-team match. However, for the bout to happen, Khan had to pull a few strings.
According to Fightful Español, Khan met with CMLL CEO Salvador Lutteroth and asked for Mortos to compete in Arena Mexico. The request was made after both Cash Wheeler and Claudio Castagnoli were unavailable for the show. His last match in Arena Mexico took place 14 years ago in 2008, where he wrestled as Semental. The 38-year-old stayed with CMLL for about three years before switching promotions to Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide.
CMLL and Lucha Libre AAA have a long-standing rivalry, which led to his ban from the arena. Following Khan’s request, CMLL was happy to accommodate Mortos.
WWE Veteran Believes Tony Khan Cares About His Employees
Last month, during an interview with Whip Show Podcast, WWE veteran Rhino heaped praise on Tony Khan and claimed how the Jacksonville-based promotion’s President cared about his employees.
One of the things that I really love about AEW and Tony Khan is not only his passion for wrestling and the direction that he’s taken All Elite Wrestling, but how he really really cares about the talent, you know? And how I’ve seen him take care of some families and stuff and he didn’t have to. It’s just one of those things, I actually seen him in the locker room at TNA when Christian Cage came over to wrestle and I actually told him, ‘Man, that speaks a lot about your character.’ If you care about your employees, at the end of the day, that’s what we are.”
