WWE is set to continue expanding its international footprint in 2025, according to Chris Legentil, the company’s executive vice president of talent relations and head of communications.
During an interview on the Sports Business Journal Sports Media podcast, Legentil discussed the organisation’s partnership with Netflix and the strategy for the year ahead. He highlighted WWE’s growing global presence and its plans to build on the success of this year’s international events.
This year alone, we did more than half our (premium live events) outside the U.S. Look for more of that when we’re in partnership with Netflix because we’re going to be working with them hand-in-hand to select locations across the world where we can grow our audience and hopefully gain some subscribers for them.
In 2023, it hosted eight of its 12 premium live events outside the United States, with major shows held in Saudi Arabia, Canada, Australia, France, Scotland, and Germany. The strategy has been instrumental in reaching fans in over 150 countries, a reach that the promotion aims to further enhance through its collaboration with the streaming giant.
Looking ahead, the company has already announced four PLEs for 2025, including March’s Elimination Chamber, which will take place in Canada. The company’s ongoing focus on international markets aligns with its goal of broadening its audience and maximising its streaming potential.
