On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that Chris Jericho and MJF’s ‘Le Dinner Debonair’ segment on this week’s AEW Dynamite was MJF’s idea. He said that MJF was inspired by watching last year’s Elton John biopic, Rocketman. He went on to talk about the choice of song, saying:
“He wanted to actually do it to an Elton John song, but for whatever reason Jericho chose [Me and My Shadow] because it was probably cornier.”
Meltzer went to observe that the six minute segment took seven hours to film after a full day of rehearsals. The editing of the video was then completed only 22 minutes before it aired on Dynamite.
The end result was impressive enough for Alex Boniello to tweet that he relinquished the Tony Award for Best Musical his production of Hadestown won last year.

‘Le Dinner Debonair’ also helped the ‘Demo God’ and ‘Ratings Ruler’ live up to their nicknames, with Jericho tweeting that the segment achieved 800,000 viewers as well as 1,000,000 viewers on Twitter.
Just saw minute by minute ratings for #LeDinnerDebonair & I’m stoked that almost 800k checked out our song and dance! Fifth highest demo for #AEWDynamite as well. Add over a million views on Twitter & it looks like our experiment paid off! The #DemoGod wins again! @The_MJF
