A new report has clarified just how long Brock Lesnar’s shocking return to WWE has been in the works after he appeared on SmackDown.
On Friday Night SmackDown Roman Reigns faced Riddle in the main event with his Unified WWE Universal Championship on the line. Despite The Original Bro’s best efforts, he couldn’t overcome Reigns who put Riddle away with a vicious spear.
After the match, Reigns asked the Minneapolis crowd to acknowledge him only to be met with the familiar music of his old rival, Brock Lesnar.
Lesnar walked to the ring and extended his hand to Reigns, as Reigns attempted a handshake, however, The Beast Incarnate pulled him in for a brutal F5. It was announced after the show that once again Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns will be facing off with the two men set for a Last Man Standing match at SummerSlam.
A new report from Fightful Select has laid bare how long Lesnar’s return had been in the works. News broke earlier in the week that Reigns’ original SummerSlam opponent Randy Orton was set to miss the rest of 2022 as he needs surgery. That is when the plan was put in place for Brock Lesnar to return with WWE looking to sell out a stadium in Nashville for their Biggest Party of the Summer.
The report continues to say that plans for Lesnar’s return began around three weeks ago which was after the current investigation into WWE Chairman Vince McMahon began but before news of it became public knowledge.
