John Cena has helped WWE move a huge number of tickets.
Having returned to WWE for an extended run that has lasted more than 2 months, fans have been purchasing tickets en masse as they are well aware that the 16-time World Champion does not have many appearances left for the company.
The strong ticket sales have not gone unnoticed, as it was mentioned multiple times throughout the October 27th broadcast that SmackDown was completely sold out. Furthermore, social media account WrestleTix noted that the October 20th episode was also sold out having sold nearly 14,000 tickets for the event.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that every SmackDown has seen attendance numbers in the five figures and this can largely be attributed to the Hollywood star appearing live:
I tell you what, that freakin’ John Cena. I mean, it’s like since he came back, they’re over 10,000 every single week on Friday night. I mean, they were always drawing well anyway, but when he came back, he is a mover man. He’s a difference-maker.
What’s Next For John Cena?
John Cena has been confirmed for his latest singles match in the company, where he will face Solo Sikoa at Crown Jewel and will be desperate to break his 2,000-day plus streak of not winning a one-on-one match. Following the Saudi Arabia show, the future of the Hollywood star looks to be largely dependent on the status of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strikes. Speaking after his most recent match at Fastlane, John Cena has confirmed that he will not be sticking around if the strikes do come to an end.
Cena has previously stated that due to liability insurance, he is unable to be an actor and a professional wrestler simultaneously. Cena is currently part of a project in Hollywood that has been paused due to the strikes and will resume when an agreement has been reached.
