Although Malakai Black is no longer by their side, The House of Black will continue as a trio, further carving his legacy into the company.
It was initially believed that Malakai Black’s request to be let go from AEW had been denied but now, ‘The Dutch Destroyer’ appears to have exited the company. This comes via Fightful Select, who reported that Black is said to have been granted a conditional release.
Despite this, the remaining members of The House of Black – Brody King, Buddy Matthews, and Julia Hart – will seemingly be continuing forward as a trio. Per F4WOnline, they were announced under the House of Black name during a recent taping of AEW Dark: Elevation.
It’s said that Black and Matthews wrestled enhancement talents Isaiah Prince and Kubes, while Julia Hart faced Tiara James. The matches are due to air on a forthcoming episode of AEW’s Monday night programming, presumably on the episode airing 12 September.
Malakai Black is believed to have wrestled his farewell AEW match at All Out. He, King, and Matthews lost to Darby Allin, Sting, and Miro in the penultimate encounter; post-match, Malakai Black turned to the Chicago audience as he walked back up the ramp, blowing them a kiss and bowing.
It’s unknown what the future holds for him, though PWInsider’s Mike Johnson noted that he may be taking a “permanent break” from the squared circle.
