CM Punk should have been careful what he wished for when he told Taz to “Send Hook” with the deadly dreamboat overtaking Punk to break a record.
Hook has set the wrestling world alight with his steely gaze and out-of-control hair as the silent assassin of Team Taz. The second-generation star hit new heights when he made his AEW in-ring debut on Rampage where he made short work of one-time TNT Title contender Fuego Del Sol.
Hook proved a chip off the old block as he performed a series of suplexes on The Alabaman Luchador before choking Fuego out with his version of the Tazmission that he is calling REDRUM.
The owner of Pro Wrestling Tees, Ryan Barkan, has been able to shed some light on just how successful Hook’s debut was from a merchandise point of view. Barkan revealed that for the first time since CM Punk returned to wrestling in August he no longer had the top-selling t-shirt on ShopAEW with that honour now belonging to Hook.
CM Punk melted the internet and the wrestling world when he ended his seven-year self-imposed wrestling exile and joined AEW in August 2021. Punk’s first AEW shirt took just 72 hours to become the biggest selling shirt in ProWrestlingTees history and since then has topped the weekly charts as the biggest selling shirt on ShopAEW. That was until Team Taz, well, sent Hook.
CM Punk emerged at the end of AEW Winter Is Coming when he saved Darby Allin and Sting from a beatdown at the hands of MJF and FTR. The six men will face off in a six-man tag team match on AEW Dynamite Holiday Bash.
