AEW’s newest sensation HOOK has wasted no time in taking aim at gold in the company as he confronted an AEW champion at the latest AEW Rampage taping.
2021 has been a wild time in wrestling with AEW gaining more prominence through the hiring of the likes of CM Punk and Bryan Danielson but the year might be remembered by some for two simple words – Send HOOK!
The second-generation star has lurked menacingly – and handsomely – in the background for many months as Team Taz’s silent enforcer. When he made his debut on AEW Rampage against Fuego Del Sol, the wrestling world was impressed and put on notice that HOOK had arrived.
The youngster soon toppled CM Punk off the top of the merchandise selling charts as HOOK-A-MANIA took hold.
AEW held their Rampage tapings in the Greensboro Coliseum on Wednesday night with the show set to air on Christmas Eve in its usual time slot – so if you don’t want to know what happened on the show then stop reading now.
After the show went off the air, Cody Rhodes – who defeated Sammy Guevara for the TNT Championship on the show – was talking to the live crowd before he introduced Tony Khan who in turn introduced North Carolina wrestling legend David Crockett.
Cody Rhodes then asked fans to chant for a young fan who was at the show named Ryan before Khan told the crowd he was going to give them their money’s worth and he sent for HOOK. The young star came to the ring and shook Rhodes’ hand before slapping the taste out of The American Nightmare’s mouth.
Rhodes then teased the crowd by saying the next time AEW returns to Greensboro they should get to witness Cody Rhodes vs. HOOK and the crowd were thrilled by the suggestion before Tony Khan added “let’s do it!” indicating that match could well happen down the line.
