New Japan Pro Wrestling star Hiroshi Tanahashi has named two AEW stars that impressed him after they shared the stage at Forbidden Door.

On the 26th of June AEW and NJPW came together to showcase the best of each company in Chicago at Forbidden Door. In the night’s main event, Hiroshi Tanahashi had the chance to become Interim AEW World Champion when he did battle with Jon Moxley. In the end, it was the Blackpool Combat Club man who had his hand raised and gold around his waist.

FTR also left with gold around their waist – and more gold draped over their shoulders – when they defeated Roppongi Vice and United Empire in a winner take all match for both the ROH and IWGP Tag Team Championships.

Will Ospreay retained his IWGP United States Championship against Orange Cassidy and Thunder Rosa kept her AEW Women’s World Title at the expense of Toni Storm.

A new champion was crowned in a Four Way match as PAC overcame Malakai Black, Miro, and Clark Connors to become the inaugural AEW All-Atlantic Champion.

NJPW commentator Chris Charlton noted on social media that Hiroshi Tanahashi has since said on his podcast that there were two AEW stars that impressed him at the show:

“Tanahashi had a ton of praise for Orange Cassidy on his podcast this week, and said he would get a big reaction in the Tokyo Dome. He was impressed by PAC as well (but forgot his name)..”

Hiroshi Tanahashi has a big summer ahead of him in New Japan Pro Wrestling as he will compete in the G1 Climax tournament.
