On the most recent episode of AEW Dynamite, AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida was presented with a new championship belt.
On the May 28th episode of AEW’s flagship show, a ceremony was held to celebrate Shida’s year-long reign over the AEW Women’s division.
Shida captured the AEW Women’s Championship at the 2020 Double or Nothing PPV Event, defeating defending champion ‘The Native Beast’ Nyla Rose in a No Disqualification match.
On Dynamite, Tony Schiavone presented Shida with the new larger, gold, diamond-encrusted championship belt. However, the ceremony was quickly interrupted by Britt Baker. The Number One Contender, who will meet Shida at Double or Nothing, said that she is determined to become the face of a whole new era.
“When I win that title, that new title, at Double or Nothing on Sunday, I’ll be the face of a whole new era. And much like an era before me, was all about 3:16, this era is all about D.M.D”
