Hikaru Shida Looking For Historic 50th Win On AEW Dynamite

Former AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida is after another piece of history as she is set to face Serena Deeb on the 2nd anniversary edition of AEW Dynamite.

Shida previously made history in All Elite Wrestling as AEW Women’s World Champion. The Japanese star successfully reached a full calendar year as AEW’s reigning defending Women’s Champion on May 23rd, 2021.

Shida successfully captured the AEW Women’s Championship at the 2020 Double or Nothing PPV Event, defeating defending champion ‘The Native Beast’ Nyla Rose in a well received No Disqualification match.

During her time as AEW Women’s Champion, Hikaru Shida successfully defeated a who’s who of the AEW Women’s Division including the likes of Thunder Rosa, Nyla Rose, Tay Conti, and Anna Jay. These wins already set Shida up for a long title reign but they now look to have helped her almost capture another piece of AEW history.

On the second anniversary edition of AEW Dynamite, Hikaru Shida is set to face former NWA Women’s Worlds Champion Serena Deeb. Should Shida emerge from the match with a victory she will become the first woman in AEW to reach 50 wins.

Hikaru Shida’s first victory as part of All Elite Wrestling came all the way back at the company’s first pay-per-view event, Double Or Nothing in 2019. There Shida teamed with the inaugural AEW Women’s Champion Riho and Ryo Mizunami to defeat the trio of Emi Sakura, Yuka Sakazaki, and Aja Kong.

If Shida loses to Deeb then there is another woman not far off her tail to reach the milestone. Nyla Rose’s AEW record currently sits at 45 wins to 16 losses, and The Native Beast is the only other woman besides Shida to compete in more than 50 matches for AEW.

On the men’s side of the roster, that landmark number has been hit by a few different wrestlers. AEW World Champion Kenny Omega, Jon Moxley, The Lucha Brothers, Frankie Kazarian, and Luchasaurus have all managed 50 victories. Only one man can boast of hitting 60 wins in the company, and that is one of the proclaimed four pillars of AEW, Jungle Boy.

The 2nd anniversary edition of AEW Dynamite emanates from Philadelphia, PA and AEW President Tony Khan has promised a huge announcement on the show.
