Hikaru Shida In-Ring Return Confirmed

It has been confirmed that Hikaru Shida will be returning to the ring for the first time in two months in March.

It has been confirmed that Hikaru Shida will be returning to action at Tokyo Joshi Pro-Wrestling’s Grand Princess ’22 event at Sumo Hall in Ryogoku, on March 19th. The AEW star will be taking on Hikari Noa.

Shida will also be in action the following day on March 20th, when she competes in Ice Ribbon’s show at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.

The match was set at the Ice Ribbon event on February 26th, with Shida appearing in a video where she asked her former tag team partner Tsukasa Fujimoto to team with her in March. The two women have previously won the International Ribbon Tag Team Championships on three occasions.

Shida hasn’t wrestled in Japan since October 2019, and you have to go back to December 2018, for her last appearance in the Ice Ribbon promotion.

Hikaru Shida hasn’t wrestled since January 12th when she was defeated by Serena Deeb. The heated feud came to a head in the fourth match between the pair, with Deeb attacking her rival before the opening bell even sounded.

Despite the beatdown, Shida insisting on starting the match, but was overpowered within two minutes. Not that the assault stopped there, Deeb returned to the ring, Kendo stick in hand to continue the punishment.

It was later confirmed that the former AEW Women’s Champion would be going on hiatus from AEW in order to return to Japan.

The Japanese star remains the longest reigning AEW Women’s Champion in history, following a reign that lasted 372 days. Her run with the title was thwarted by Britt Baker at AEW Double or Nothing on May 30th 2021. Baker is yet to lose the championship.

It was recently announced that after two years away, Double or Nothing will be returning to Las Vegas on May 29th.
