Highly Anticipated WWE Return “Imminent”

Since taking over at the helm of WWE, Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque has reintroduced a number of former stars to the WWE roster and speculation is rife that another huge name could soon be added to that list.

Former WWE Intercontinental Champion could be set to return

Rumours have been gathering pace that former WWE Intercontinental, United States and Tag Team Champion Matt Cardona, known during his previous main roster run as Zack Ryder, could return to the company in the coming weeks.

Cardona spent 15 years with the company before his surprising release in April 2020 as WWE made a series of cuts due to the financial pressures of the pandemic era. He has been widely praised for his post-WWE rebuild, where he has claimed multiple titles across the globe including the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, Impact Digital Media Championship and GCW World Championship.

The 37-year-old unsuccessfully challenged reigning NWA World Heavyweight Champion Tyrus in the main event of Saturday’s NWA Nuff Said event, and it is that defeat that has re-ignited speculation of his WWE return.

A return would see Cardona follow in the footsteps of wife Chelsea Green, who made her WWE comeback as a surprise entrant in the Women’s Royal Rumble match in January.

Cardona has previously stated he has unfinished business in WWE and as recently as December teased a return to his former employer. Many now believe that his return could be imminent.

The Orlando based star originally shot to stardom as a member of Edge’s Rated-R Entourage and would soon claim Tag Team gold with Curt Hawkins, but it wasn’t until he launched successful YouTube show Z! True Long Island Story that he made a name for himself as a singles star.

His WWE highlight was capturing the Intercontinental Championship in a ladder match at Wrestlemania 32 in Texas and he could now be preparing for a return to the show of shows if rumours are to be believed.
