Another name has thrown their hat into the ring for the upcoming John Cena retirement tour.
With 2024 nearly two thirds of the way through, fans are awaiting further information on the impending final year of Cena’s in-ring career. With 36 dates announced over 2025, it still remains unknown how many of these will be matches and how many will be televised. However, with spots being incredibly limited, multiple stars from the past and the present have made their case as to why they should be considered for one of the coveted matches before the Hollywood star hangs up the jorts for good.
Among the storylines fans are hoping to see play out is Cena once again attempting to become a 17-time World Champion to break the Ric Flair record. Luckily for Cena, current Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes is open to the match.
Appearing at Fanatics Fest, Rhodes commented on Cena’s upcoming retirement and recognised the 16-time World Champion as the greatest of all time:
“We get to live in this era, he’s definitely a man of his word. When he says it’s farewell, it truly is farewell. If you have the farewell tour t-shirt, go and get it, this is it. I drove John around for a year and I learned everything I possibly could. Didn’t realize I was learning so much at the time. It would be the honor of my life to wrestle John Cena in any capacity. He’s the GOAT for a reason.”
John Cena Names His Own WWE GOAT
Although Cena is referred to as the greatest of all time by ring announcers and on commentary, the WWE legend does not feel the same way. Speaking in a recent interview, John Cena recognised Roman Reigns as the GOAT and explained why he feels that way.
In an interview to promote his new movie, John Cena revealed why he always carries a broken watch.
H/t to Fightful.
