Following the brutal beatdown that was the main event of Clash of Champions, WWE.com confirmed yesterday afternoon that Jey Uso will get another opportunity at Roman Reigns’ Universal Championship in a Hell In A Cell match.
The rematch was made on SmackDown this week when Reigns was set to be ‘crowned the tribal chief’ after successfully defending the Universal title over Uso. As Paul Heyman was about to do the honours Reigns took the mic and called out Jey, demanding his cousin call him the ‘tribal chief’ in order to fully cement Reigns’ new status.
When the Uso brother came out and refused, Reigns gave him the title shot at the Hell In A Cell pay-per-view but warned that the match would have “the highest stakes that any match has ever had in WWE history” – implying an even bigger stipulation on top of the already high-stakes Hell In A Cell match type.
The announcement would attract AJ Styles after Reigns left, who would challenge Uso over his legitimacy as a Universal Championship challenger. Jey would go on to defeat the Phenomenal One later in the show, picking up his first singles win on WWE TV in over four years.
This is the first match to be officially announced for October 25th’s Hell In A Cell pay-per-view, following rumours that Sasha Banks and Bayley are currently set to headline the show for the SmackDown Women’s Championship in what would be only the third Hell In A Cell match to feature women in history.
