“He Was Just So Out Of It” – Darren Young On Giving Jon Moxley An Edible

Fred Rosser, the artist formerly known as Darren Young, has recounted a tale of the day he made Jon Moxley paranoid from some self-prescribed edibles.

Beginning life as a NXT original and part of the original Nexus faction, Darren Young is perhaps better known to a WWE audience as part of The Prime Time Players alongside Titus O’Neil. Though the pair were a strict mid-card act during their tenure with the company, they tasted gold at Money in the Bank 2015 when they overcame The New Day to capture the WWE Tag Team Championships.

After the team split for a second time, Young was re-packaged with manager Bob Backlund in a bid to ‘Make Darren Young Great Again’, but the gimmick ultimately failed and the star suffered an injury in a tag team bout with Primo and Epico in 2017. While rehabbing his grievance, he was released from the company on October 29 of that same year.

Now, Rosser has sat down with former WWF Tag Team Champion D-Von Dudley on the Table Talk Podcast to discuss one of his fondest memories from being on the road with current AEW Superstar, Jon Moxley. The tale recounted the time Rosser – given the nickname ‘The Medicine Man’ backstage for dealing out tablets to unwell stars – supplied his friend some elixir which made him paranoid:

“Recently, I saw Jon Moxley and I brought up a story with him. One time, I gave him an edible overseas and he said he was pacing his hotel room back and forth. He didn’t even go down to catering at the hotel because he was just so out of it. I was cracking up laughing. I can’t mention what show I recently saw him on, but I did see him. I brought that up, just cracking up. They called me the Medicine Man, but no one ever knew, because again, I was the quiet guy in the locker room.”

In a bid to rejuvenate his professional wrestling career, Rosser has turned his attention to Japan and the thriving wrestling scene under the country’s premier promotion, New Japan Pro Wrestling. In 2020, he signed a deal to appear on the company’s USA offering, Strong, where he last appeared on January 15, 2021, teaming with ACH and Blake Christian in a loss to the Bullet Club.
