“He Deserved That”: The Undertaker Happy To Hear Recent Reference On WWE TV

The Undertaker Responds To UFC 299 Entrance Tribute

The Undertaker was happy that WWE acknowledged the incredible accomplishments of fellow Hall of Famer Sting.

Back in October, Sting announced that his final match would take place at the 2024 edition of AEW Revolution. Fast forward to the February 7th episode of Dynamite, and The Icon and Darby Allin successfully captured gold when they defeated Ricky Starks and Big Bill to become the new AEW World Tag Team Champions.

During his final match on March 3rd, The Icon teamed with longtime partner Darby Allin to successfully defend the AEW Tag Team Championship against The Young Bucks in the main event of the show, and emotions were high throughout the night as the star’s storied career was celebrated. His sons even participated in the match, dressing as Wolfpac and Surfer Sting in a nod to their father’s past.

Though AEW and Revolution were not mentioned specifically, WWE did acknowledge The Icon’s retirement on the following episode of Monday Night Raw, with Pat McAfee even saying he had an “absolutely epic match last night.”

Speaking on the latest edition of his Six Feet Under podcast, fellow WWE Hall of Famer Undertaker gave credit to The Icon for having an incredible career, saying:

“What a run, man. Like, I understand runs. What a run.”

Also on his podcast, The Undertaker named a particular WWE Superstar who he is a massive fan of.

“It’s Only Right” – The Undertaker On Sting’s Retirement Being Referenced On WWE Raw

Continuing, The Deadman said he was happy that the 64 year old’s retirement was mentioned on Raw despite WWE and AEW being in competition with one another.

“Well, there are certain people in the industry. I mean, yeah, we’re in competition with a different company. I get it. But Sting’s legacy is so much bigger than AEW or any of that. I mean, he deserved that. I’m happy that as a company that they acknowledged it, because it’s only right.”

Elsewhere on the podcast, Undertaker revealed why he never faced Sting in WWE.

Sting may have retired victorious in AEW, but he originally pushed for a different ending to his final match.
