This weekend, Eddie Kingston will challenge Jon Moxley for the AEW Championship in an I Quit Match at Full Gear, just a few short months after joining All Elite Wrestling.
Only two men have held the AEW World Championship, Jon Moxley and Chris Jericho, but might the newly-signed Eddie Kingston become the third?
On the AEW Unrestricted podcast, Tony Khan previewed Full Gear, and stated that Eddie Kingston could be a “great” champion in AEW.
“Since he came in this summer, he’s become one of the top people in AEW and one of the top people in wrestling, and he’s very effective as a wrestler; he’s very effective as a speaker; he’s very effective as a leader; and I think he could be a great champion for us.”
Khan also spoke of how he’s wanted to do the Kenny Omega vs Hangman Page match on PPV “for a long time” and how “proud” he is that AEW get to promote FTR vs The Young Bucks as it’s been spoken about “long before there was an AEW” and “long before” Khan knew he was getting into the wrestling business.
