Corey Graves has opened up about how much he’s enjoying calling the action on Raw as the surprise returns keep on coming.
When Vince McMahon retired, his announcement set into motion the biggest shake-up that WWE had seen in decades.
The subsequent reshuffle saw Triple H confirmed as Head of Talent Relations and Head of Creative while Stephanie McMahon was made Chairwoman and co-CEO alongside Nick Khan.
To date the biggest, and most obvious changes have taken place on television with Triple H beginning to shape the product to suit his own ideas and aspirations. While a number of former stars have already made shock returns to the company, fans have also noticed that commentary appears to be much less scripted with the likes of Michael Cole and Corey Graves given more room to react more organically.
Speaking on the After The Bell podcast, Corey Graves said that he loves the new element of surprise.
“I love the cliff-hangers, the elements of surprise, you gotta keep people guessing.”
“Not everything needs to be a surprise, because not everything is going to captivate you in that way, But right now, in the past few weeks, I am having more fun calling Monday Night “Raw” because I loved being surprised.”
Graves added that he prefers not to know what is going to happen on the show, as it means he can react in a more natural way.
“I prefer not to have any clue as to what’s happening on the show,” Graves said. “I get to react, I get to be a fan, I get play the role of a super knowledgeable wrestling fan, rather than snarky bad guy announcer.”
The returns show no sign of stopping with Hit Row making a shock comeback on the most recent episode of Friday Night SmackDown. Top Dolla has since revealed he stopped watching wrestling after being released, but SummerSlam sparked his interest.
