A new report has claimed that Hangman Adam Page was due to appear in a Pabst Blue Ribbon commercial but ended up being withdrawn.
During the Death Match between Nick Gage and Chris Jericho on the July 28th edition of AEW Dynamite, the two men brawled with a multitude of weapons including a pizza cutter. Mid-way through the match the show went to a commercial break which featured an advertisement for Domino’s Pizza.
The incident reportedly led to Domino’s considering their advertising presence on the show.
Hoping to capitalise on the controversy, Pabst Blue Ribbon ran a commercial during Dynamite a week later. However, this reportedly led to a behind the scenes disagreement between the company and AEW.
The new report from Fightful Select suggests that Hangman Adam Page had been due to be part of the commercial. Things got as far as Page flying to St Louis to film the ad, where he was paid a flat fee for the appearance. However, an AEW rep stopped production before filming began as “there were additional clearances and agreements that were required.”
The final advertisement later aired featuring Matt Cardona, Chelsea Green, Brian Myers and Hornswoggle. Although the clip went through “significant edits” to remove any wrestling moves. The report adds that this was done at the request of WarnerMedia’s Ad Department and not AEW specifically.
It was recently reported that Page will also not be appearing at AEW All Out. Hangman lost his opportunity at the AEW Title when he and the Dark Order failed to defeat The Elite at Fight For The Fallen though many expected the 30-year-old to get around the stipulation somehow.
However, reports now suggest that Page won’t be appearing on the show at all.
On the August 11th edition of Dynamite it was announced that Christian Cage will meet Kenny Omega for AEW’s top prize at the showpiece event on September 5th. Cage will also challenge Omega for the IMAPCT World Title on the debut episode of AEW Rampage on August 13th.
