Hall Of Famer Explains Why Cody Rhodes Is Like John Cena In WWE

John Cena & Cody Rhodes

A WWE Hall of Famer has explained why Cody Rhodes is like John Cena to the promotion.

Since his return in 2022, Rhodes has emerged as one of the biggest names in the company. From his prior run as Stardust on the lower card to his emergence as a main-event superstar, Rhodes has come a long way.

With two back-to-back Royal Rumble victories and a WrestleMania main-event victory, The American Nightmare has solidified his position as a top entity. Like fully so, Hall of Famer JBL has the same thoughts, and recently publicly compared him to veteran John Cena.

In the ‘Something To Wrestle With‘ podcast, JBL opened up on his past wrestling days before comparing Rhodes to John Cena. He further justified the reasons behind his statements, and how he is performing a similar role to what The Leader of Cenation did.

You don’t see that in a lot of people. You don’t see that. I think Cody Rhodes has understood what being the main guy is, very well, and I think he’s done an incredible job. I think he’s done a wonderful job. The workload that he’s under is so admirable. I mean, it’s really, he’s like Cena, the guy never stops.

He [Cody Rhodes] understands how important it is, when you’re the lead face, you got to put people in seats, put cash in the company’s pockets. I think Cody does a terrific job with it. Cena did a terrific job with it. There’s so many people that did, but there’s a lot of champions in there, between that, that never really felt that’s a good point.”

JBL believes similar to how Cena helped the promotion sell tickets and bring people to the arenas, the current WWE Champion is also performing a similar task. The three share a past in the promotion, having been in the ring against each other multiple times.
