On the March 3rd episode of WWE SmackDown, Drew McIntyre came to the ring and demanded that Intercontinental Champion Gunther come out to meet him.
However, instead of being approached by the Austrian star, McIntyre was confronted by an irate Sheamus who wanted to know why his friend went behind his back to try and get a title shot. The pair were quickly joined by LA Knight, Karrion Kross, and the New Day.
After a wild brawl, it was announced that McIntyre, Sheamus, Kross, LA Knight, and Kofi Kingston would compete on the March 10th edition of the show. Although the match was changed after Kingston suffered an injury, and was replaced by Xavier Woods.
On March 10th the Fatal-Five-Way opened the show, and the five men picked up where they left off the week before. The match began at break-neck speed until Sheamus and McIntyre came face-to-face. But the staredown was quickly interrupted by LA Knight and Karrion Kross.
Knight and Kross initially teamed with great success before Woods came to the fore late on. However, it was McIntyre and Sheamus who picked up the win. Yes, both of them.
Sheamus hit a Brogue Kick on Woods and McIntyre flattened Knight with a Claymore Kick. Both stars went for the pin simultaneously and were declared the winners.
Later in the show, Gunther confronted Adam Pearce and demanded that he decide on one challenger for WrestleMania. The official then announced that Sheamus and McIntyre will meet one-on-one on March 17th.
