Who will be the next man to try and take the Intercontinental Title from Gunther?
Gunther has reigned supreme in WWE since moving to the main roster back in April 2022. Shortly after arriving on SmackDown the Austrian star defeated Ricochet for the Intercontinental Championship and has been in dominant form ever since.
The long-reigning champion made the most recent defence of the gold on the April 21st episode of SmackDown dispatching Xavier Woods. Since then he has been drafted to Raw, and there’s a long line of potential challengers queueing up.
It has been announced that there will be a Battle Royal on May 15th to bring some clarity to the situation and decide a new number-one contender.
The show will also feature Cody Rhodes who will respond to Brock Lesnar after being attacked by The Beast on May 8th, and Becky Lynch who returned on the same show to confront Trish Stratus.
