Gunther recalled the time he found The Undertaker in a compromising position backstage in WWE.
The Undertaker is one of the most well-known wrestling stars in history, all thanks to his impressive character work and dedication not to break away from kayfabe until retiring. However, he does let his guard down more often since then, especially backstage in WWE.
Since hanging up the wrestling boots, The Deadman has been backstage several times and was even rumored to be interested in an official role. However, one major aspect the Hall of Famer might find difficult about remaining behind the scenes was his tendency to easily fall asleep, which was witnessed firsthand by Gunther.
Before Going Out To Wrestle, Gunther Found The Undertaker Sleeping Backstage
In a recent episode of the Six Feet Under podcast, The Undertaker and Gunther discussed the latter’s feud with Sheamus and later on, which later culminated in several memorable matches. Before one of their bouts, The Ring General recalled seeing The Deadman backstage and felt excited, as that meant he would watch him wrestle. However, The Phenom fell asleep at the gorilla position.
I have a little funny story to that actually to tell you. It’s like, we can cut it out too if you want. But I remember standing there, gorilla, before I walk out and you were sitting next, I think you were sitting with Bruce on that table. And like you said, you did your show. So I guess you must’ve been very exhausted. And I was like, ‘Oh, The Undertaker is going to watch my match.’ And I stand there and I talked to Kaiser a little bit. And then I turn around and I was like, ‘The Undertaker is asleep.’ Sh*t.
After Gunther told the story of how he found ‘Taker asleep on gorilla, Michelle McCool, The Deadman’s wife and WWE Hall of Famer, shared that he can fall asleep everywhere. However, it was later clarified that Taker woke up and saw the match.
