Gunther shared a vlog showing his day off before SummerSlam, revealing he met with a WWE colleague.

Former World Heavyweight Champion Gunther gave fans a look into his personal life through a recent vlog before SummerSlam 2025. In the video, The Ring General also showed his meet-up with Shinsuke Nakamura during his day off in Orlando, Florida.

Tonight we meet with a colleague of mine with Shinsuke Nakamura. I haven’t seen him for a while, I’m currently in Orlando, he lives here too. So we take advantage of that,” he said in his vlog. (0:23 – 0:33)

He explained that both wrestlers live in Orlando, making it easy for them to connect when their schedules allow.

The vlog showed Gunther covering his daily routine, including getting blood tests and shopping for groceries. He mentioned that while his assistant Mike handles most tasks, The Ring General prefers to shop for special items himself. The day ended with dinner between the two WWE stars at a Chinese restaurant.

This meeting took place right before SummerSlam 2025, which was the first ever two night event at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. At this biggest event of summer, Gunther would go on to lose his World Heavyweight Title to CM Punk in the main event of night 1.

The Professional History Between Gunther and Shinsuke Nakamura

Gunther and Shinsuke Nakamura have crossed paths multiple times throughout their WWE careers, with numerous memorable matches. Most notably, they faced each other for the Intercontinental Championship on the August 12, 2022 episode of SmackDown. In that match, he successfully defended his title against Nakamura.

Their encounter was praised as a high-quality match, with Nakamura targeting Gunther’s right arm to neutralize the champion’s power game. Despite Nakamura’s strategic approach and mixed martial arts background, Gunther retained his championship with a dropkick and a powerbomb victory.

Currently, Nakamura remains under WWE contract despite recent speculation about his status. He has been less visible on television recently but returned to action late in 2024 with a new character direction. He attacked LA Knight following his return and defeated him to win the United States Championship at Survivor Series: WarGames back in November, 2024.

Meanwhile, after losing his World Heavyweight Championship to CM Punk at SummerSlam, WWE announced that Gunther would be out indefinitely due to multiple injuries.
