Gunther has officially reached the 100-day milestone as WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
His reign began at SummerSlam when he defeated Damian Priest to capture the title, marking the beginning of a powerful title run for The Ring General. Since claiming the championship, Gunther has defended it twice, taking on top stars in WWE. He first retained his title against Randy Orton at Bash in Berlin, and more recently, he bested Sami Zayn on the October 7th episode of Raw.
Now at 100 days, Gunther is only 18 days away from surpassing Damian Priest’s record as the second-longest reigning World Heavyweight Champion, a record currently held by Seth Rollins. This latest championship reign comes on the heels of Gunther’s historic 666-day run with the Intercontinental Championship. During that reign, he took down a slew of WWE’s top talent, including Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, Ricochet, Braun Strowman, The Miz, Jey Uso, Bronson Reed, Chad Gable, Xavier Woods, Rey Mysterio, and Shinsuke Nakamura.
As his current reign approaches record-breaking status, he’s set to come face-to-face with former champion Damian Priest on the November 11th episode of Raw.
Which WWE Star Says Gunther Is The Hardest Hitting Person They’ve Ever Faced In The Ring?
WWE Star Bronson Reed has spoken about how Gunther is the hardest-hitting person he’s ever faced in the ring. Reed recalled how when The Ring General chopped him during a match it hurt so much that it took his brain a few seconds to actually register the amount of pain his chest was in following said chop.
In recent news, Gunther’s challenger for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Survivor Series has been confirmed.
