“The Ring General” Gunther, shared a recent incident he had with a fan who drove nine hours to meet him.
Gunther is known for his non-hesitant, sharp, and pointed promos in the WWE Universe, just like his chops during the match. Being a villainous character, he usually does not care about the WWE fans.
On his recent appearance on Six Feet Under with Mark Calaway, Gunther talked about one such fan interaction. He reflected on the time a fan approached him and stated they drove 9 hours for a meet and greet with him.
“I did like meet and greet recently and there was like one person they said drove like nine hours or something to the meet and greet. And I said to her, I was like, ‘Appreciate it, but never do it again’. You do something really great. Do something. No, do something with your time that actually benefits you. It’s like a waste of time. And I felt like she looked a bit sad, but I felt like that’s the only responsible thing to say at this point. Like, I’ve, I don’t know, I feel like if my kid would drive somewhere to see that person,I wish the same message would be transferred.” (45:33 – 46:00)
Though these words may seem harsh, the former World Champion was overall thinking towards the well-being of his fans.
Gunther’s Recent Feuds in WWE
The craze for The Ring General amongst the WWE fans is evident, given his strong wrestling style and good promo skills. On July 12, 2025, he retired the WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg on Saturday Night’s Main Event. Prior to that, he had just won back his World Heavyweight Championship from Jey Uso, all thanks to his sleeper move.
Following that, a gauntlet match was scheduled to determine Gunther’s opponent at SummerSlam for a title opportunity. “The Best in the World,” CM Punk won the match by pinning Bron Breakker and making it to SummerSlam Night 1 Main Event.
The 30-minute showdown became an instant classic, and Punk won the world title for the first time in over 12 years. Even before he could make his way backstage, “Burn it down” hit, and Seth “Freakin” Rollins cashed-in his Money in the Bank briefcase, snatching the title from Punk.
