Gunther Addresses Goldberg Rumors After Reclaiming WWE World Heavyweight Title

WWE stars Goldberg and Gunther

Gunther talks about the rumored Goldberg return following his recent WWE World Heavyweight Championship win.

Gunther is back on top after defeating Jey Uso on the recent Monday Night RAW for the World Heavyweight Championship. The new champion had many things in mind following his victory, even mentioning Goldberg and Mr. Money in the Bank, Seth Rollins.

On the recent RAW recap with Sam Roberts and Megan Morant, Gunther shared that he wasn’t surprised by the outcome of the title match. He even mocked people who speculated that Seth Rollins would cash in or that Goldberg would return. However, he said those well-known names knew not to come close to him when he was a champion.

“You said caught everybody by surprise, I don’t know what’s surprising about this. I guess going in, it got perceived as a little like of a nothing match, just a (Wrestle)Mania rematch, and everybody was speculating like Seth Rollins is gonna do something with his briefcase, Goldberg is gonna show up to finally kick my a**. The reality is, when I was World Heavyweight Champion the first time, all those big names they stayed away from me and for a very good reason. Cause ever since I arrived in this company, I’ve been the most dominant guy around here.”

Goldberg and Gunther crossed paths at the 2024 Bad Blood, where the Hall of Famer was in attendance. Before things got physical, Sami Zayn attacked The Ring General. The former has since announced that he will have a retirement match this year, with the current World Champion possibly his opponent due to their recent history.

Gunther Shares What’s Next After Winning The WWE World Heavyweight Championship

In the same appearance, Gunther was asked what is next now that he is the champion again and would gain a bigger target on his back. The Ring General shared that he’s not the one doing the hunting now, but would rather have other superstars step up against him to prove themselves.

“I mean, that’s what I always say when I’m in this position. And I’m not the one to look at people and be like, who’s my next challenger? Who care less? One that holds that price that everybody desires. So it’s up to everybody else to knock on my door and prove themselves.”

The champion also talked about Seth Rollins as the Money in the Bank winner, noting that they weren’t able to wrestle before due to the latter’s injury. However, The Visionary may have become more confident now with Bronson Reed, Bron Breakker, and Paul Heyman by his side.
