Gunther has addressed a match that WWE fans have been clamouring for.
In a year of amazing Intercontinental Championship defences, The Ring General has put on great matches against the likes of Sheamus, Drew McIntyre and Chad Gable. With no one able to dethrone the dominant champion in 2023, Gunther has established himself as a near-unbeatable force and a final boss that no one can seem to beat. However, when it comes to power and being a dominant force inside the squared circle, there is one name that could pose the greatest threat to the leader of Imperium; Brock Lesnar.
Fans have wanted to see the match ever since the Intercontinental Champion debuted on the main roster, with the excitement increasing even more when The Ring General and The Beast had a brief staredown at the 2023 Royal Rumble. With the clash feeling like an inevitability at this point, could the dream match be on the WrestleMania 40 card?
Speaking with Busted Open Radio, Gunther discussed the possibility of a future match with Lesnar. The leader of Imperium stated that although WrestleMania may not be the site of the clash, he needs to beat the man who is also known to be unbeatable:
“I don’t know if WrestleMania 40 is the time for that but we’ll see but I feel like in the long run the one name I always bring up is Brock because I feel like I’m the end boss to a lot of people. But I feel like Brock is somebody perfected being an end boss and I got to prove myself with him in the ring too.”
If Lesnar were able to defeat the Intercontinental Champion and bring the record-breaking reign to an end, this would be his first non-World Championship reign in WWE.
During the same interview, Gunther elaborated on which style of match he enjoys the most.
Gunther Not Open To Unique Offer
The RIng General has elevated the IC Title to new heights in 2023 and has made it a highly sought-after prize. While many have predicted that he will be a future World Champion, Gunther has revealed that he is not open to a unique offer to get a future title match.
Also regarding WrestleMania, a UFC Champion has an unpopular opinion regarding the event.
