Gunther has heaped praise on Stephanie McMahon following her surprise WWE departure.
On January 10th, Stephanie McMahon announced that she was stepping down from her role as co-CEO alongside Nick Khan. Not only did she stand down, she left the company she has been part of since she was a child altogether. This was followed by the news that her father Vince McMahon had been elected Executive Chairman by the Board of Directors.
McMahon has stated that he has come back to the company in order to sell it, which has created an incredible amount of speculation and rumour. However, one man not getting caught up in the chaos is Gunther.
Gunther Praises Stephanie McMahon
The Intercontinental Champion recently spoke to Joe Hayden of the Dallas Morning News, and explained that he isn’t concerning himself with events in boardroom. In short, he’s a wrestler, so he’s going to keep on wrestling.
“I mean, rumors are rumors. And at the end of the day, I’m not the CEO. I’m a wrestler. So, I focus on what I do in the ring and leave the business to the people that do business,”
However, the star did reserve praise for Stephanie McMahon, who he described as “very nice and very lovely.” The former NXT star added that he was happy that she was able to step back and spend time with her family.
“To be fair, I only had very brief interactions with her. She’s always been very nice and very lovely. And yeah, I’m happy for her that she’s going to be able now to take time off and enjoy time with her family. And yeah, I think you should be happy for anyone who’s in a position to do that. All the best to her.”
Gunther will be back in action on the January 13th episode of SmackDown when he defends his Intercontinental Champion against Braun Strowman.
