Gunther will return to Austria with WWE later in the year.
The Ring General has begun 2024 the same way he ended 2023, becoming a dominant force on the Raw brand and remaining Intercontinental Champion. However, while those in the United States have got to see the dominant leader of Imperium perform live week after week, international fans have only been able to see the leader of Imperum in action on TV. This is due to strict residency regulations that did not allow Gunther to travel internationally for a number of months, meaning that Crown Jewel and Elimination Chamber saw no Intercontinental Championship bout.
This is set to change on May 2nd at the latest, as WWE has officially announced that the Austrian native will be performing at a non-televised event in Vienna. The Intercontinental Champion has yet to be announced for the live event the day prior in Bologna, Italy.
While the card is subject to change, other Superstars advertised to appear are Cody Rhodes, Bianca Belair, Randy Orton, IYO SKY, Drew McIntyre, LA Knight, Bobby Lashley, Kevin Owens and Jey Uso.
With Backlash in France taking place 2 days later, it is highly likely that The Ring General will be a part of the International Premium Live Event. Additionally, with travel restrictions lifted, Gunther looks to be a certainty for the Bash in Berlin show in Germany providing there are no more unforeseen circumstances.
Who Will Face Gunther At WrestleMania 40?
While multiple title matches have been confirmed for WrestleMania and other champions have a clear direction for the biggest show of the year, it is still unknown who will face the Intercontinental Champion in Philadelphia. When asked about WrestleMania, Gunther addressed the uncertainty in regard to his own plans for the event.
In recent news, Sami Zayn has secured his spot to face Gunther at WrestleMania 40.
