NXT Vengeance Day proved to be an eventful night for Grayson Waller.
In the ring, the star made his latest attempt to win the NXT Championship from Bron Breakker. This time the huge grudge match took place inside a steel cage and the two men set about destroying each other for almost 15 hard-hitting minutes.
The end of the match came with Waller seemingly on the brink of victory at the top of the cage. However, Breakker wasn’t quite done and went to join Waller delivering a massive Super-plex from the cage to the mat. The champion followed up with a Spear to score the 1-2-3.
Despite this, there was still more action from Waller to come.
Grayson Waller Facing Sanctions
After the event, Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative Shawn Michaels was addressing the media. With the conference call in full swing, Waller burst into the room and demanded to talk to the WWE Hall of Famer. The Australian star accused Michaels of playing favourites and demanding to know why he wasn’t “the guy.”
Matt Bloom was quickly on the scene to try and defuse the situation and eventually got Waller out of the room. Michaels went on to explain that there had been an incident in gorilla earlier in the night, although he declined to offer any more details.
In response to the incident, WWE NXT has announced that Waller has been (storyline) suspended.
WWE has attempted to blur fact and fiction on a number of occasions in recent months, notably with a ‘fight’ breaking out featuring Grayson Waller and Bron Breakker at the Performance Center in the lead-up to their match.
Bron Breakker has held the NXT Championship since defeating Dolph Ziggler on the episode of Raw after WrestleMania 38. Ziggler had in turn won the title from Breakker at Roadblock less than a month earlier.
