Ric Flair recently had some tough love for one particular AEW star, claiming they have an attitude.
Ahead of his planned “final match” at Starrcast V, Ric Flair shared a number of training clips online where he was working out with AEW star Jay Lethal.
It was these videos which initially sparked rumours that Flair would be making a comeback, as he was seen taking a number of bumps and performing his signature spots.
With Starrcast a little over a month away, there is yet to be an announcement confirming who Flair will be sharing the ring with for his last dance. It had earlier been reported that Flair would be teaming with FTR to take on the Rock ‘N’ Roll Express with Ricky Steamboat. However, Steamboat has since announced that he is happily retired and won’t be wrestling at the event.
This led many to believe that Flair’s training partner Jay Lethal could be in line to take the free spot. As it turns out, Lethal also seemed to think he would be on the card, something Flair says isn’t happening.
Speaking on his To Be The Man podcast, Flair said that while he and Lethal haven’t fallen out, the AEW star “has an attitude.”
[Conrad talks about how Jay was meant to be on the show and isn’t here, asks Ric what happened]
“Is he gonna hear this If I say it? I don’t care. He’s got an attitude. He wants to be part of the show. And I said ain’t gonna happen. You know, that happens all of a sudden everybody’s feelings are hurt. You know, this is what we talked about what we discussed we discussed, some people’s feelings are gonna be hurt. [Conrad says he thinks the world of Jay] I do too. I’m not saying anything bad. It just, I don’t have the authority or even though I am the co-owner I guess, co owner of this venture. I don’t have the authority to put him on the card…
So I think he’s upset about that, but he’ll get over it. I don’t, there’s not been a falling out. I just, you know, somebody I just told him like it is. I don’t have the ability. I don’t, I suppose I have the influence to make something happen, but it from what I understand he doesn’t fit on the card. I’m Sorry. It’s not a falling out on my part, I promise.”
